General Consent

During your signup for services offered by CactusMen, you have indicated that you may have symptoms of Male Hormone Deficiency. Before you proceed to your consultation with an Associated Practitioner (as outlined in our terms and conditions), it is important that you understand & agree to:

  • Your obligations before and after consultation with the Associated Practitioner
  • Service costs & what is included
  • The role of Associated Practitioners relative to other healthcare professionals you may be engaged with
  • The potential treatment options which may be prescribed by Associated Practitioners, and the possible benefits & risks associated with treatment groups
  • Ensuring your full understanding of treatment types  
  • The options available to you following your consultation
 
Your Obligations Before & After Consultation With The Associated Practitioner:

Before Associated Practitioner Consultation

  • Blood testing: In general, all patients will need to provide up-to-date blood tests in advance of your first doctor consultation. The exact requirements of any mandatory blood tests should have been communicated to you before making a doctor booking, but if this has not occurred please contact support@cactushealth.com.au. The cost of any blood testing required is not included in the subscription fees for your consultations through CactusMen. 
  • Up-to-date screening tests: It is your responsibility to ensure you are up to date with standard screening tests such as national bowel cancer screening,  and prostate cancer checks. Report any concerning symptoms to both CactusMen and your regular GP and/or specialist.
  • Disclosure of Medical History: You must fully disclose your medical history, including both prescription and non-prescription medications you are currently taking or plan to take during your treatment. This includes over-the-counter medications, recreational drugs, herbs, extracts, and other dietary supplements. Compliance with our recommendations regarding the continuation of these preparations is expected. You must update us if your condition changes. False or incomplete information may result in adverse events for the patient.
  • Follow guidelines: adhere to all instructions shared with you from our support functions in advance of your consultation with the Associated Practitioner.

Following Associated Practitioner Consultation

  • Periodic monitoring: you are required to consent to periodic monitoring, which may involve laboratory testing, physical examinations, and regular screening evaluations before your initial consultation and ongoing thereafter.
  • Review Cycle: in general, all patients should expect 3 monthly reviews with blood tests until treatment is stabilised. If extra reviews or testing is required, you will be notified by CactusMen team. The cost of any blood testing required is not included in the cost of your treatment through CactusMen and must be provided by a third party. 
    • Please note that exact review cycle frequency will be determined exclusively by the partner practitioner who is overseeing the therapy
  • Healthy Lifestyle Activities: We request that you comply with all other healthy lifestyle activities recommended for you individually and for the public in general such as exercise and diet. 
  • Update your regular GP: Please ensure to keep your regular GP and other clinicians involved in your care updated on treatments or medications prescribed during the treatment you access via CactusMen, especially in emergency situations or prior to surgery. Partner Practitioners with CactusMen will be happy to provide letters to you or other doctors detailing your management.
  • Notify your practitioner or nurse at CactusMen of reactions: Please promptly notify us regarding any signs or symptoms of possible reactions to your therapy.
  • Follow-up and Additional Preparations: You should seek advice via CactusMen before discontinuing any prescribed therapeutic regimens or taking additional preparations that we have not recommended. Failure to do so may lead to injury, death, or permanent disability.
  • Regular Care by Other Physicians: Agreement that you are under the care of physicians for all other medical conditions is required. This means that you should have a regular GP and still attend any specialists as normal.
 
Service Costs & What Is Included
  • Your service with CactusMen consists of access to our subscription service, which covers all Associated Practitioner consultations delivered via telehealth/ telemedicine, and any check-ins with associated nurses/ clinicians. You will also have access to our portal as part of the service to help with admin.
  • As outlined within our terms and conditions, consultations provided by our Associated Practitioners via our platform are not eligible for Medicare rebates and no medicare rebate will be offered for any services you access via our platform.
  • Any blood tests or medication which may be required as part of your diagnosis or ongoing treatment are not included in the service offered by CactusMen and will likely incur additional costs from third party providers.
 
Understanding The Role Of Associated Practitioners

Any Associated Practitioners are Australian registered doctors that have a special interest in men’s health. We are not providing the services of Endocrinologists, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, or any other specialists.

General: Potential Benefits of Therapy Plans For Suitable Patients

As per the terms and conditions of our platform, diagnosis of symptoms & determination of any suitable medications which may be suitable for treating your symptoms will be at the sole discretion of the Associated Practitioner. CactusMen assumes no responsibility for treatment and medication plans advised. You will be provided additional information regarding the potential benefits and risks of specific therapy plans which are relevant to you once you have had an assessment with an Associated Practitioner. You acknowledge that you are under no obligation to proceed or continue with any treatment plans.
